basket-ma-ball

march madness extravaganza...

somewhat. weekend of basketball. had our last basketball game against the last place team in the division. we won. nothing crazy. me and chiggs were in no mood to play. we were on the bench just talkin about what we wanted to order at golden bowl for our feast afterwards. we had food on our minds. the game ended and we spent lil time getting our stuff together and left. we ordered salt and peppered chicken (crispy!), general tao chicken (crispy!) and that black bean noodle mix (noodly!) and killed it easy. good times.

had plans to paint, but march madness got me hooked. frign basketball. even though i've taken breaks from it, shit always comes natural to me. as they say, once a baller... anyhoot, this weekend was serious with the Elite Eight games. saturday North Carolina(1) spanked Louisville(3) in an easy enough game and UCLA(1) owned Xavier(3) just as easy. not so exciting. but sunday was money...

DJ. AJ. hard...

Texas(2) versus Memphis(1). Texas' starting guards, DJ Augustin and AJ Abrams are both under 6' and run and gun. i love that shit. Memphis are tall and long and have two starting lines! my particular fav, is CDR, Chris Douglas-Roberts. he has like old school game and moves like dr. j. and if they defend u with a box and one, u know ur a frign star! anyhow, i didn't know who to cheer for, but Texas had nothing on Memphis. so i was rooting for Texas to keep it close as possible. but Memphis was too tall and long for Texas' guards to play. still fun to watch as hell tho.

CDR.

Davidson(10) versus Kansas(1). this is like the epitome of march madness. a low ranked team (Davidson, 10th seed) in the Elite Eight up against a 1st seed in Kansas. and Davidson have the most exciting (and possible tournament MVP) player in tournament history in this scrawny kid, Stephen Curry. son of NBA-er Dell Curry and hottest milf i've ever seen Sonya Curry. dude, ur mom is baaaad! but this kid is averaging 30pts per game! and he doesnt look like much. Lebron James has been coming to this guy' games. disgusting. as for Kansas, they're a real team with a tight 5. nothing exciting, but they win.

he looks twelve.

his mom. she looks like thandie newton. wow...

anyhow im watching this game, real into it, real close and by halftime its tied. Stephen Curry had already dropped 15 pretty pts. i get a call from chiggs and leo to hit the gym. i tell em after the game but they convince me that the gym will have it playing on their tvs. so we go, and none of the tvs have the game. one supervisor dude is working but he didnt have access to any of the tvs. FUCK! i missed the end. and from the hilights, it was a exciting one. Davidson lost by two, missing a game winnin shot. Curry had to give up the shot cause he got doubled, and his teammate missed. fug.... frign chiggs.

so with that, first time in history, all four number 1 seeds in the tournament have the Final Four spots. 1 vs 1, 1 vs 1 across the board. exciting. im takin North Carolina and Memphis. UCLA is ahrite, and not really interested in Kansas. and maybe Memphis as champs. we'll see.

yah for basketball!

BTW: went upstairs to see what my pops was cooking, and he's makin his special stir-fry something or other that i like, in which i exclaimed with a 'Sweet...' he looked at me puzzled and said, 'sweet? no...' i laughed. and explained that sweet meant good. ah old man. charmin as ever.

exciting.

needing some r&r

tired and drained and fat...

pacquiao vs. marquez II
my dad hosted the uncles again for this fight. whoever brought the KFC, salamats! basement was pretty packed, with 20 old filipino guys drinkin and shouting.

the fight was exciting. better than his last couple of fights. pac's is definitely a champ. looked like one. even tho pacquiao was the show, marquez was the professional. just like their last fight, marquez owned pacquiao. and was pretty sure it was going to be another draw. marquez got dropped, but he was still strong. between rounds, the room would cringe as the cutman worked on marquez. DISGUSTING. worse cut i've ever witnessed. DISGUSTING. it was bigger than his eye! DISGUSTING. watching marquez's skillfully control pacquiao, i was close to rooting for him. if anything, he deserved that decision. bah, filipinos and corruption. still proud, but im not convinced that pacquiao beat him. i smell rematch.

had dinner there over the weekend to celebrate a going-away for my buddy terence! he has a job offer down in atlanta , georgia, USA. short notice, but im real excited for him.

the restaurant itself was real chiq with wood grain, moody lighting, and square lines everywhere. prices were upscale but the waiters and hosts were all in casual. like the name suggests, their specialty is burgers. so, i got a hotdog. michigan style. and i ate it with a fork and knife. for the price, i was expecting a large portion. i got a large hotdog on a small square plate and fries seperate in a small square bowl and a coke in a glass coke bottle that was smaller than my water. satisfied, but not that impressed. it was like a high class mcdonalds. oh but they're 5 dollar milkshakes are gigantic! and super awesome delish. but yea.

good luck terence!

school

busy busy busy... past couple of weeks i've tryin to put some work together for an art presentation, had a chemistry midterm to handle, and juggling lab reports, etc.

my chem teacher is the biggest douche ever. he can't spell 'platnum', 'vegtable', 'potasium' and he's a chemistry teacher. and he's english. he's from Ottawa! fucken retard. worse teach i've ever had.

photo above is robert ryman. presenting him as one of my inspirations. not so much for his work, but his comfort and love of just painting white paint. reassuring.

anyhoot, just a week left of university, and one more exam in chem, and im done as cooking is when the timer runs down and chimes that ring indicating the food that is cooking is ready to serve and eventually consumed after a cooling period.

leo, the franchise, doin it.

leo at the line. me in the back catching my breath, again.

good shift. back to the bench.

gil takin his jordan role a lil to literally.

leo takin, chiggs playing big down low.

game over.

congrats.

good game.

me and number 20. my high school ball number. same time damon stoudamire blew up in toronto and gary payton guarded jordan. good number.

low scoring, all because of our D. convincing win.

the league confirmed our standings (4-2) and we're tied for second with this team (4-2) right here. this wasn't the big bad undefeated team, it actually was the cambodian team we beat the other week (re: 3-2) who are first place with 6-1. they were missing their star player when we beat em supposedly. we got two games left, both this month. then playoffs. im excited, and fat. ughs.

BTW: went to skratch with terence and stef the other night to watch the montreal canadiens play, with beer and nachos. and hoyea, they won and are now 1st place in the East! good time to be a canadiens fan! U-S-A! U-S-A!

*labored breathing.
